2. Why was there an explosion?

The Halifax explosion happened because of explosive materials. A boat called the
Mont Blanc was carrying explosives and crashed into another boat in the harbor.

Over 1800 people died and thousands of others were hurt

4. Who was to blame?

two ships involved, the Imo and the Mont-Blanc, they were unsure who was to
blame. Was the fault in the hands of Captain From of the Imo, exiting the basin
through the narrows, in haste to make up lost time? Or did the fault lie with
Captain LeMedec, pushing the unflagged Mont-Blanc with its large cargo of
explosives into the narrows, that caused the disaster?

Sir John Eaton came in a train, which, was filled with building supplies and
donated furniture from his stores. Due to all of the carnage and destruction
from the Explosion, Halifax was given the nickname the "Shattered City".

John "Eric" Davidson (May 10, 1915—September 9, 2009) was one of the last survivors of the [[/wiki/Halifax_Explosion|Halifax Explosion]]. He was 2 and 1/2 years old when he was blinded by the Halifax Explosion on December 6, 1917.[1[[home#cite_note-cbc-1|]]] At the time of his death in 2009, Davidson was the penultimate living survivor with permanent injuries from the Halifax Explosion
